Self-Advocates of Indiana and The Arc of Indiana invite self-advocates to apply for the 2022 Leadership Indiana Training Program, taking place August 15-19 in Muncie, Indiana.

Self-Advocate leader Betty Williams
We are in exciting times in Indiana and are fortunate to have a state administration that seeks out and respects the voice of self-advocates sharing their story and lived experiences. Unfortunately, what we are witnessing now is that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are being invited “to the table” but they have not had the opportunity to engage “at the table.”
The Arc of Indiana and Self-Advocates of Indiana contacted the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities as a part of the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Delaware to develop a four-day leadership training to help people with IDD gain skills and confidence that will better allow them to share their experience and thoughts when asked.
It is our strong desire to provide an opportunity for people to receive much needed training to assist them in speaking up and sharing their thoughts. The four-day training will include expert speakers and exercises that will help put the learning into practice.
Self-advocates will be awarded a stipend of $1,000 for their participation in the training. Participants will be housed at the Courtyard by Marriott, Muncie and housing and meals will be provided. If you are selected for this opportunity, more details will follow.
If you have questions, or need some assistance please contact Ella Boyd at eboyd@arcind.org or Jill Smith at jsmith@arcind.org.
Please complete this application form and submit by 12:00 p.m. June 30, 2022.
