What Are We Doing These Days?
Indiana Self-Advocates Offer Trainings!

Self-Advocates
of Indiana now has a training team! We are ready to come to your
location and provide trainings on the following topics.
(1)
Self-Determination
Self-determination
is both a movement and a civil rights issue. It requires skills,
responsibility, and support. How do we assist people to be able to
make decisions about their lives?
This training has been developed for staff of service provider agencies and
family members of self-advocates.
Length
of Training: Three hours
(2) Starting
a Self-Advocacy Group in Your Area
In
many areas of our state, adults with developmental disabilities do
not have the opportunity to participate in self-advocacy activities.
Learn how to form a local organization that is eligible for membership
in Self-Advocates of Indiana.
This training has been developed
for adults with disabilities and their supporters.
Length of Training: One
day
(3) Project Vote!
All citizens
with disabilities are eligible to vote. The Project Vote training
was created by the National Center for Self-Determination and 21st
Century Leadership in order to increase voter participation and awareness.
This training has been developed for people with disabilities,
including self-advocates.
Length of Training: One day
The
cost of hosting a training by Self-Advocates of Indiana is
arranged on the basis of travel distance and other expenses.
Our
Training Experience We
have held successful Project Vote trainings at several locations,
including Opportunity Enterprises in Valparaiso and the Easter Seals
Arc in Fort Wayne.
We have made many presentations at conferences, including those sponsored
by The Arc of Indiana,
the Indiana Chapter of Professional Case Managers Association, Partners in
