the Statewide
Self-Advocacy Conference for 2006
September 7 and 8, 2006
“People Power – Working Together for Change”
We adults with intellectual and
developmental disabilities and our staff and family members will come
together from all over Indiana to renew our commitment to each other
and to our mission statement because we are: “an
organization of citizens who speak up and educate for equal rights, respect,
and inclusion for all in the community.”
Self-Advocates of Indiana, Inc.(SAI)
is an independent, not-for-profit organization led by and for people
with developmental disabilities. “We
are adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who believe
that people with developmental disabilities have gifts and talents to
offer; ought to be accepted as equals; can make choices based on reliable
information; and should have the same rights and responsibilities as
other citizens under the law”.
Our Conference
While we self-advocates educate ourselves on community -- jobs and homes, wellness, and service system issues -- our staff and family members will be provided with up-to-date information on issues of interest to them.
Our conference will be held at the Bloomington Convention Center, 302 South College Avenue, Bloomington, Indiana. The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel is connected to the Convention Center. A block of rooms has been arranged with a special conference rate.
We will begin with registration at 9am on Thursday, September 7 and end at 3:15pm on Friday, September 8.
Can We Count on You?
Securing award-winning national speakers is costly. Self-Advocates of Indiana is steadfast in its desire to bring cutting-edge information to its constituents at this conference. A sponsorship from you will provide us with the financial resources we need to bring quality information to our conference plus provide scholarships for self-advocates and families who otherwise will not be able to attend.

Opportunities for Exhibitors
Get the word out about your business or organization to self-advocates and their supporters. Exhibition hours are on Thursday, September 7 from 9 am to 4 pm. Set up at 8 am and dismantle at 4 pm. The fee for exhibitors $150. There is no exhibitor fee for Sponsors who contribute $1,000 or more. Exhibitors may sign up for lunch on Thursday at a cost of $15 per person.
